  1. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history due to the positive factors involved. The Industrial Revolution got people thinking of reasons why the workers mere mistreated. Karl Marx helps support the workers by giving them independence. In Japan the Meiji Restoration help reform Japan instead of them being isolated and behind in technology. The shift from the countryside was also evolved from the past by having better tools to use for farming.
Karl Marx had a theory about having the workers to be treated fairly in their working environment. He wanted to give the workers back their respect. He wanted to end the dictatorship in factories. The communist Manifesto were unfair to the workers due to the environments. The coal mines caused a huge problem by putting children, women, and even men at risk by putting candles in their mouths to navigate were to go. Being in a closed place while having a candle in your mouth would cause you to inhale the dust in the coal mines. Engels and Marx wrote the communist Manifesto to show how workers should be treated. The children workers were too busy working and never had an education Marx and Engels had to change that. People in factories put their lives on the line because they were exposed to so many life threats during the hours in a factory like getting cotton stuck in their throats and no ventilation of fresh air. Soon laws were established to help make a better working environment which changed the way workers would be treated throughout history.
The Japanese were also impacted by the Industrial Revolution due to the Meiji Restoration. The Meiji Restoration helped evolve Japan to keep up with the standard technologies like other countries. Japan was more modernized compared to being isolated with nothing to use to better their lifestyle. They had new ships, trains, bikes, and trade routes. The Japanese were able to catch on to the new technology pretty fast which made them a bit ahead in learning. When Japan was open to trade they had a huge economic impact. The trains help transport hood faster and more efficient rather than having to only use ships. The Meiji rule caused lots of high exports and import rates.
The shift from the countryside includes faster food production. Instead of making less production with old technology they were able to make more using cheaper and better machinery. The rural areas had new crop tools to use to keep their farm more efficient. The Three-piece plow for example helped get more work done and cheap to replace it rather than the past tools they used. The seed drill helped plant seeds to straight rows instead of having all the crops spread out which makes their job harder and more time consuming.

  2. The Industrial Revolution was definitely a turning point in history. It changed the lives of many people around the world. This revolution modernized, improved, and supported many countries. However, not everyone was benefited. Before the industrial revolution, life in the countryside side was very simple. Agriculture was productive in small farms, and products were produced in cottage industries. For example, in the domestic system, mostly women would work in little cottages, and produce textiles, and cotton. The spinning wheels were spinned by hand and every family was able to support themselves. However, once the revolution began, the domestic system was forgotten about, the factory system began, and machines replaced the workers. Many new forms of technology were produced. Some of these new technologies that were introduced were chemical fertilizers, the steam engine, barbed wire, spinning mule, telegraph, camera, telephone, steam locomotive, and finally, steamboat. Since there were so many new machines, the need for more products increased rapidly. The workers in the factories had to work long hours, but their wages were still very low. Many children had to work, and the factories did not provide any support or safety regulations. As you can see, the industrial revolution forced a change on many people that were living in the countryside, but didn’t really provide much in return.
Not only did the industrial revolution improve and occur in Europe, it also affected Japan. For a very long time, Japan was an isolated country, but this revolution changed that. In 1852, Commodore Matthew Perry was dispatched to Japan by U.S President Millard Filmore, and arrived in Tokugawa. “The United States was eager to break Japan’s ‘seclusion policy’ and commercial (trade) treaties, and thus ‘open’ the nation to the Western world.” Eventually the Meiji Restoration began and modernized Japan. For example, railways were introduced, exports and imports increased rapidly, and modern industries were introduced, while indigenous (tradtitional) industries were over.
Since many of these changes were affecting the lives of people, new ideologies were introduced on the perspective of what was happening. Herbert Spencer was a philosopher that believed in social darwinism. “Social Darwinism follows the mantra of ‘the strong survive,’ including human issues.” He believed those with economic, physical, technological strength ‘fluorished’ and those without this strength were destined for extiction. In conclusion, the industrial revolution was a turning point because it shifted many lives, modernized many sountries, and just simply changed about everything throughout the world.

  3. I believe that the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history because many events occurred that resulted in drastic changes that our current life is based from. For example, the change from a domestic system to the factory system. Before the industrial revolution many people were farmers. They owned a plot of land and grew all they needed on that land. If they wanted certain crops they grew it on their land, if they wanted certain meats and poultry they were obligated to have cattle and chicken. To put it simply, before the Industrial revolution people were only dependent on themselves and everything they needed they grew or had. Then businesses started buying peoples land on the country-side for their own personal gain. This left people with no house, no money, and no food to take care of their families. So the businesses offered people jobs at their factories in exchange for a small money, barely enough to take care of their families. Of course people took this offer because they had no other option except to let their family die of starvation. So men, women, and children started working at these factories to obtain money for food, shelter, and other necessities. They relied heavily on the business men who payed them because with out pay they cannot live. Because most, if not all, factories were located in cities, people decided to move closer to the factories so the commute would be easier and they wouldn’t be beaten for being late. This sprouted the beginning of cities (densely populated areas with high rise apartment buildings). If you look at New York today there are tens upon hundreds of high-rise apartment buildings with more being built every day, densely populated cities almost everywhere, and people rely solely on their pay check to provide for their family and all they need. In conclusion, I believe the Industrial Revolution was a major turning point in history.

    • I enjoy your discussion about life before. Your discussion about life after lacks any historical information from our class lessons and documents. Approaching the standard.

  4. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point because it dramatically changed the course of history. It led to new inventions, new ideas, and the shift from the domestic system to the factory system. The Industrial Revolution led to changes from the domestic system to the factory system. This change started along with the ideas of Adam Smith. Adam Smith believed in laissez-faire capitalism which means that the government does not interfere with the economic system and allow people to create their own businesses to make profit. This system was first developed in France and was just used by Adam Smith. The change of the domestic system to the factory system led to many farmers being poor. Due to the Enclosure Act, the act of which farmers lost their land in order to make large farms for one product, farmers were forced to move to the cities and become workers to support his family. This relates to how we forced the Native Americans to leave their lands so that we can mine their gold. The workers, however, were treated poorly and there was always a huge chance for them to get fired due to the many people that needed jobs. The workers were not able to eat and they had no breaks. They were also beaten for lateness and making mistakes. The actions taken by the employers were justified by Social Darwinism which was created by Herbert Spencer. Social Darwinism basically said that the workers are meant to be treated this way because of survival of the fittest and also the employers had the traits needed to survive. In this case, that survival trait was education. A new idea of an economic system was created by Karl Marx who wanted it to support the workers. This idea was called communism. Communism is the idea of letting the state have control over the means of production and to share everything equally. This way, workers would be fairly compensated and not go through the suffering in the laissez-faire economic system. Robert Owen produced a better system. It was basically a Utopian society. this Utopian society would be fair for the workers and businessmen since workers will get a fair pay, have breaks, have a lunch time, and not get beaten for lateness and mistakes. The businessmen will also be able to make a lot of money. Robert Owens also wanted to set up villages in where about 800 to 1,200 people would stay there and they will need to work with each other in order to support each other. The Industrial Revolution also led to the Meiji Restoration in which Japan transformed into an industrial country. This was a good and bad idea because the benefit was an alliance and trade treaties. The negatives were that when World War 2 came, we had to fought a very strong and powerful country leading to the deaths of many people and the unfortunate bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Many new inventions were created during the Industrial Revolution. These inventions led to changes politically, socially, and economically. For example, the invention of trains helped armies move faster, transport goods, and transport people. Another invention created was the telegraph which was used in WWII to send secret messages. The telephone was invented also. This led to new advances in communication. In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution was a turning point because it led to many changes in history all the way to this day.

  5. The industrial Revolution was a turning point in history, a lot of changes occurred at that point in history. People who lived in the suburban part of the country moved to the urban part of the country.
I strongly believe that the Industrial Revolution was a turning point because if you compare the lives of people before and after the revolution you will find many immense differences. This quote is from B. Life in England Before the Industrial Revolution, “he works from 4 AM to 9 PM.” This quote shows that the hours the middle class people before the revolution worked were 4 from in the morning to 9 at night. The Life of the Industrial Worker in Nineteenth-Century England, “From 6 in the morning to 8 at night”. This quote shows that the people use to work longer hours before the turning point. Even though they use to work longer hours the working conditions were much better. They use to get to eat with the employers in their house eating a nice meal everyday they worked, also they could have token a brake whenever they wanted as long as they got the work done by the end of the day. Though the working conditions after the turning point were horrible the employer was always watching you and you only had one hour break were you had to bring your own food. The working conditions were also dangerous because of the machinery. The industrial revolution was the start of global warming because of the increase in the use of coal.
The industrial Revolution had its pros and cons like everything, though it also lead us to what we are today. The Industrial Revolution was a significant turning point in history.

  6. The industrial revolution was a turning point in history. It impacted on how people lived and worked. The industrial revolution was basically the rise of machines. It involved in having an increase of goods, but poor living conditions and working classes.
There were two people that had ideas that can change the industrial revolution. They had ideas that can keep the industrial society organized and fair. Their names were Robert Owen and Karl Marx. Robert Owen wants to organize all the favorites like New Lanark. “Those youngsters who did work only labored for a short ten and three quarter a day.” No worker was punished which helped make a positive environment. Instead of getting punished, workers would get a rating in which they can use to improve on. They would not get beaten if they came late. Robert Owen also wanted to give a good education to the kids. Children under the age of ten or eleven would not have to work which kept them safe. Ther workers were also well fed and had good housing with enough space. It had kitchens, playrooms and so on. This can relate to Akbar the Great in which he ruled everybody with gentleness rather than fear.
Karl Marx idea was the Theory of communism. He wanted to help the workers not get over powered by the people who had power over them. ” Aroused and united by the communist… the workers will rise up and overthrow their capitalist oppressors. This shows the workers will have a word to overthrow their bosses. He wanted the workers to u it’s and have fair working conditions. He did not want any social classes. This would help create equality for each worker.
The industrial revolution was a turning point in history. Robert Owen and Karl Marx had ideas to change it. It changed a lot of things like giving the workers good housing and not getting beat. Also not having social classes making everyone equal.

  7. The Industrial Revolution was definitely a turning point in history, this time period was all about a rapid change in how goods are manufactured. The Industrial Revolution was so impactful it also reformed other countries ways of production, such a American and Japan. The industrial revolution was the initial cause for the Meji Restoration. Originally common goods and crops were hand made in farms and in cottages. But advancements in technology made manufacturing much more easier and effective. Later factories were established in the urban parts of England. Machines could output a multitude of goods compared to man, thus resulted in the Enclosure Act. This Forced the people from the rural part of England to move to the urban part, thus creating a greater Industrial workforce. The working and living condition during the industrial revolution were extremely poor. Children starting from the age of 5 began working in coal mines and factories. Workers were constantly endangered on the job. Miners worked with lit candles and the workers were endangered at any moment from explosions. The living conditions in the industrial revolution were far more worse than you can imagine. The people lived in tight compact area called the slums. The living areas infested with people and disease, both the living working conditions resulted in many deaths. Gradually after many deaths there was a reformation of working and living conditions, thus the government established basic rights for the people. Ultimately, the industrial revolution changed how goods were made, and this helped many nations worldwides establish an economic foundation.

  8. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history as it was the basis or beginning of the modern world. The industrial revolution impacted the lifestyle for people all over the world. In Europe the industrial revolution caused a rapid change in the life of the working class. The were forced out of their traditional farming communities into the urban world. Society became more complex and finding work was not easy as new machinery began to replace the jobs of the workers. Before this revolution, people worked at home with their families, hand-producing what was necessary for them; clothes, food, etc. But once new machinery was added into the world, it was a completion between the people and theses new technological innovations. The spinning Jenny, for example, made manufacturing clothes a lot faster. The new and improved machines helped to raise the wealth for factory owners. More and more people were emigrating to the cities which caused a demand for more products. The wealthy were becoming even wealthy and the working class were left to struggle. The middle class was rising and looked down on the working class as they lived in dire poverty. The laissez-faire policy of the economic system not having an interference by outside forces did not help to support the workers of industrial England. The goals for capitalism was to make profit, produce the highest quality goods for the lowest price. It was beneficial for the factory owners as more and more money were put into their pockets. They took advantage of the laissez-faire policy and treated the workers poorly. They worked in terrible conditions and were paid low wages. Herbert Spencer’s ideas also focused on the wealthy and ignored the hardships of the working class. Social Darwinism was a way to justify the rule of the fit and wealthy over the weak and poor. He manipulated Charles Darwin’s theory that animals evolved through variation and natural selection of the most fit to survive in particular areas into society. He claimed the higher class were the fittest to survive since they held wealth and power. The lower class were more likely to go extinct as they had more hardships and wouldn’t be able to survive. His justified the abuses and hardships of the industrial Revolution. His idea had more a negative impact as it was also carried out by the Nazis in Germany. They killed off the mental and sick. They preferred people with blue eyes and blonde hair. It was a turning point in history because in a way this continued to modern day as people want their kids to be intellectual and talented. Also, men strive to be more superior and strong. The weaker guy doesn’t get the right attention and is bullied. The industrial revolution impacted the lives of people behind Europe. The Meiji Restoration in Japan was prompted in part by a fear that Japan would be colonized by western nations. Japan was an isolated country and had wanted nothing to do with the rest of the world. While the rest of the world is advancing and modernizing, Japan stayed ethnocentric. But after the Americans threats and demands of signing the treaty Japan opened their doors and their society developed as a whole. The railroads for example increased trade, the government grew stronger as the had a stronger military and alliances with other countries. The industrial revolution allowed the world to develop a growing society for the future. It led to a worldwide urbanization. The back of feudalism was broken when wealth became concentrated in different hands under capitalism, socialism and communism. It was the beginning of a technological rise that continued on tot day as now we have smart phones and complicated machinery.

  9. – The Industrial Revolution impacted history because, people’s lives changed for the worse. Many suffered from poverty, illness and loss in power, society from the countryside living in the domestic system were now referred as peasants, moving to cities and living in the factory system. For example Thomas Malthus (population theory) changed society in an social way, ” (Thomas Malthus’s Essay on Population) “Preventative checks reduced the birth rate; positive checks increased the death rate. Moral restraint, vice and birth control were the primary preventative checks.” The population was significantly increasing, and many families would be shattered. The people that immigrated to cities living were in desperate need of money. Many people that lived in the country and moved to the cities came with hopes of bettering there lives, but a large amount of jobs were needed, so the businessmen, bosses began to lower there wages seeing how many people needed a job in order to support there families. So the population grew, and more children were being produced Thomas Malthus created any idea, many would revolve around it. Preventative checks and positive checks ideas would help decrease the population, controlling the birth control rate and increasing the death rate was the only hope in order to help people. If kids were to survive they wouldn’t have a proper childhood, many would work in factories because there families would need the support. They wouldn’t live out a proper childhood, society would become more stronger because of this. Also Herbert Spencer (Social Darwinism), helped Charles Darwin ideas spread and influences people’s lives. For example, “(Modern History Sourcebook: Herbert Spencer: Social Darwinism, (1857) “Nonetheless, his ideas received a major boost from Darwin’s theories and the general application of ideas such as “adaptation” and “survival of the fittest” to social thought is known as “Social Darwinism.” The concept of “survival of the fittest”, and “adaptation influenced individuals because of what it meant. Many would have to adapt to a certain environment, just like the society who lived in the countryside. “Survival of the fittest” meant many would work to there abilities in order to live in a environment, just like the people that immigrated they had to try and live in the cities. Although how harsh, low wages, and pressured they received, they had to survive because there no way back to there normal lives.

    – Shifting from one place to another affected people , many had a normal life and moving to the city changed that. For example (Utopian Socialism), “He had bigger ideas for the betterment of humanity, which he presented to a special committee of Parliament. Owen suggesting forming Villages of Cooperation in which between 800 and 1,200 people would work together to support themselves.” Robert Owen had any idea of a stronger society, one that wouldn’t feel controlled, and worried about how they would survive, he wanted equality for everyone. Children wouldn’t work in factories and would receive a proper education. His concept is used today were most people are given enough resources to survive, and kids are given an education to have a bright future. He wanted to change society, help strengthen it. To add on [The father of Communism], “When this happens, the class struggle will be over. In place of the capitalist society with its opposing classes, we will have a classless society, [a society without different social classes], in which everyone will be equal.” Karl Marx was a leader, he wanted and began to take action, he didn’t want injustice among the people. He didn’t want a barrier between people, social classes wouldn’t matter this idea would impact society, many struggle to survive especially the low class, with this concept many would rise from the darkness, and become successful. All four of these great men changed history, they all looked for justice, and would help the workers living among the factory system. The industrial revolution was a turning point in history because many of these leaders ideas we use today, we see how society suffered, and look upon how grateful we should be with the ideas of theses heroic men.

  10. Life before the Industrial Revolution and the Agricultural Revolution had its economy mostly based on farming. Everyone would try their best to grow enough crops to receive a decent amount of money and be able to sustain their family. This was known as cottage industry because the manufacturing and working of the people was carried out in their own homes. But as the Agricultural Revolution came, it increased the economy with its new innovations and new technologies. Simple technologies like chemical fertilizers, crop rotators, barbed wires, and seed drills changed the life of many. It improved stocks and products, and impacted society economically and socially. According to Professor Mark Overton with the Agricultural Revolution there were new farming systems, and as machines began to produce more food, the proportion of the workforce in agriculture fell. As this continued to happen, farmers began to be forced off of their land with a new law called the Enclosure Acts. This law drove people off their land, so it could be replaced with machinery. This was devastating. People were forced out of their homes and the land they had always lived in. So the people started to move from the rural sides of the country to the urban cities because they were promised to get higher wages from their jobs and would get a better social life in the industrialized cities. Basically the industrialized cities promised the people of country side a better life, so they could improve the economy of Britain by making them work in factories and producing more trading goods.
But why did the Industrial Revolution start in England? Well, first of all for trade you needed to have good harbors, and England was one that possessed this. England also had flowing rivers that acted as natural canals of communication for trade. In addition this country was rich in coal and iron ore, and had the best wool. So this was the perfect place for industry to come and take place and economy would definitely rise up. And so new innovations were introduced, like the steam engine which made miners work faster and easier, as well as the spinning jenny which made women’s job easier. Now although these new technologies definitely made a great difference, according to evidence given by the Sadler Committee this didn’t mean they had to work less, in fact because they were making twice as much as they would regularly make, they had to work just as hard and fast so they could increase the outcome. But even though much was being made thanks to the machines, the economy was so low that workers had very low wages. Why? According to Adam Smith the system runs better when the government keeps their hands off. This is called “Laissez-Faire” by the French. Adam Smith was working on a book “The Wealth of Nations” and believed businessmen should be free to run their business in a way that brings them the greatest profit. This was his idea of capitalism and he was known for being the Father of capitalism, but what Adam didn’t think about was employers using this freedom in an unjust way. So with so much money going to the employers and barely any for the employees, this began to grow a great deal of necessity that even children were sent to work. This meant many children had to go through many years without a childhood just to be able to help their family out, or be able to buy a piece of bread. This wasn’t the only thing that was unfair. Workers also didn’t have any rights. According to the Sadler Committee, one man could be thrown out, while another would be working day and night. In addition, there are somethings you can’t change like nature, if it’s raining or you don’t have any method of transportation it is possible you will arrive late to any place. But for the workers during this time, if you arrived late you would be beaten up. This was so cruel imagine arriving late for work because the train was late and being physically mistreated for it? Well many of the workers during industrialization in Victorian England had to go through this. Now to top it off, they weren’t even aloud to eat their food. They didn’t have a lunch. Workers would work all day and had to take their food home and eat it when they got home, because they weren’t allowed to have any breaks that would interrupt them from working their souls out. All their hard work eventually brought the economy to rise a little bit, but it wasn’t enough for all the people who were working to get the money they deserved. This began to break the relationships and family structures, as many started to lose communication because they were working hard just to be able to survive. This was devastating as many were struggling and working long hours with this injustice. In addition according to Friedrich Engels workers had very poor living conditions. They were segregated in different districts, rich people with the rich and the poor with the poor. They lived in wildernesses of one or two storied houses built of brick. Although some complained about the poor living conditions, many of higher class argued back they shouldn’t be changed and therefore nothing was done. The worst part was that the economy had now risen, but the selfish employers were the ones getting rich and making a lot of money. The employees didn’t make the money necessary to support their family or even themselves. Many children were suffering a lot emotionally and physically. Their health began to weaken; they began to get skinnier and barely ate or had nutrition. But this wasn’t the case for children only, as many adult workers were going through the same thing. They were also working for many hours under unfavorable and unjust circumstances. This was all a great impact brought by the industrialization, which did give economy to the rich and employers, but not enough for employees bringing a great amount of suffering and injustice to so many people in England. In fact the sufferings were so big, that Victor Hugo wrote a novel called “Les Miserables”, in English this means The Miserable.
As this period of suffering continued, new ideologies continued to come to the world to try and solve the problem. Charles Darwin was one of these men. He was an English naturalist and geologist, who wrote a book called “On Origin of Species”. In this book, he talks about many theories, one of them being the idea of “survival of the fittest”, which means that those organisms that learn to adapt and change will continue to exist, while those that do not will simply die off. Herbert Spencer was another person who though he had a solution. He took Darwin’s theory and twisted it in order to create his own theory. According to a Modern History Sourcebook: Herbert Spencer: Social Darwinism, it states, that Spencer also applied Darwinian Theory to human development, arguing that wealth and power were signs of fitness and that mankind benefited from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit. So Social Darwinism stated that, those with strength (economically, physically, and technologically) flourish and those without are destined for extinction. This idea instead of helping the people that were being mistreated just found an excuse to justify this problem by blaming it on the people’s genes. Thomas Malthus had a similar perspective to Charles Darwin. He believed that the way to survive was by keeping the population the same without it increasing, and wrote about ways to keep the population in check. This included letting the poor starve, pass plagues so the poor could die out and inflict misery upon their lives to shorten their years. Thomas was probably very brave to actually write all these absurd ideas on paper .He actually thought this was the problem. The worst part was that he thought the wealthy should not have to go through any of this, as only the poor should go through this. Thomas Malthus’s ideas also added to Social Darwinism, justifying that what the poor were going through was perfectly fine. And so Malthus’s essay on population transformed society into accepting that, the poor should live in the lowest conditions even if it meant death. As all this injustice was being brought, other men decided to stand up for their beliefs as well. Instead of capitalism Karl Marx wanted communism, in which the state would control the means of production. This way the employers/ the Bourgeoisie wouldn’t control all the money and use it in a selfish way, in which the people don’t receive the money they deserve. He was against capitalism. Instead he wanted equality for everyone, and wanted to eliminate the social class division. Without social classes no one would have more power or be superior to anyone else. This would eventually unite all workers, and contribute to a society with equal rights. Many of the rich were against this, as this would lead to them being less, but the poor “had a world to win” because they would finally have the equality every human being deserved. This would increase the living conditions of many, and would prevent many deaths. Robert Owen also had a similar perspective, but instead of just thinking it, he carried out his idea of a Utopian society in England. He successfully made New Lanark a marvelous profitable society, unlike other parts of England during the industrialization. According to the text, one of the many features of this society was they had neat rows of houses for the workers with two rooms in each house. Also there wasn’t any garbage on the street; instead the trash was neatly piled up. In the factories, there were no children under the age of ten or eleven, and the few children who were there worked only for a short ten and three quarter hour a day. Discipline was handled with gentleness instead of fear. In addition the workers weren’t punished and had the right to stand up if something went against the rights they had. They had a book filled with their rights and anyone could go and inspect it as they wished. But it didn’t stop here. Owen had bigger ideas, in which people would be able to unite and work together to support themselves. Families would live in a house, and each family would have an apartment of their own and be able to share in places for playing or reading, and children over the age of three would be able to receive a proper education. We see how both of these men had a similar idea that would turn industrial England upside down. Whether this was for better or for worse depended on the people. The poor would definitely be affected in an immensely positive way. They would work with a good pay, they would be treated like humans without being abused. They would be able to eat and have small lunch breaks, their health would be restored, and family would be able to spend time again. But the most important change will be brought by the workers themselves. As the workers would begin to be treated with all these rights, and be working in this peaceful and gentleness, instead of fear, like Owen offered, the workers would be motivated to work. Once the workers are motivated to work, they will work faster, more products will be made and the economy will rise in abundance for every worker. This is the positive impact, but because everyone thinks differently there is always a downside as well. The rich definitely will not be happy with this change. If you think about it, there are many selfish people who might have been receiving much money like the Bourgeoisie, and they would not like the idea of having to lose money and power and be put in the same standard as people who were once poor. They would feel as they are being made less. With this in mind, we see the revolts that would be coming up. Eventually either too many rich would win this argument and things would be kept the same, with injustice, and social class division, or justice will be made and society would be transformed like Owen’s Utopian society and Karl Marx’s idea of communism. It all depended on how the people would take this new change, and this would be the outcome of a positive or a negative impact on the industrialized England of this time.
So was the Industrial Revolution a turning point? Of course! Without all of this there wouldn’t have been new laws, new technologies, advances, new education opportunities, higher economies, and new opportunities for a change in the future.

  11. Yes, the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history for many reasons. The main reason that the Industrial Revolution was a turning point was that during that period of time things that were made at home and hand made were being replaced by machinery and factories. The machines that people built were made to make things easier for the people but it only made things harder for them. Once the machines were introduced to them, factories started to expand and more workers were needed. Since more workers were needed the people that lived in the rural areas started to move to the urban areas for more jobs since the machines basically took over their jobs because the machines were faster to make clothing than the people were. Now, when the people started to move to the urban areas the factory owners started to pay the workers less because they knew that they wouldn’t leave their jobs because they needed them. The factory owners did this because they believed in Social Darwinism, which basically was that the wealthy people with many resources would live, and that the people with no money and less resources would die. So, since the factory owners believed in this they wouldn’t pay the workers what they deserved because that would make them wealthier and that for them, meant that they would live longer.

  12. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history; this time period has changed the nations as a whole and the people that lived in them. The industrialization in the nation has affected both the economy and the lives of the people, for certain people the change was a benefit but for the majority it was a time of struggle. The industrialization has also given new ideals to follow, people have questioned the rules of society and has created new ideals according to there believes of how this new society should be. This was a quick change for the people and the nation and people had to change in order to bend in to this new society that has been formed from the industrial revolution.
The new society industrialization has created had many benefits towards businesses and the businessmen. According to the World History textbook as the population increased the more people demanded food and goods such as cloth. The more people demanded food and goods allowed more jobs to be opened. The expansion of the economy opened new ideas as well the textbook also states “industrialization, which is the process of developing machine production of goods, require such resources” the resources that were listed were waterpower and coal to fuel machines and iron ore to construct machines, tools and buildings, which opens jobs for miners. Britain’s economy expanded to support industrialization, businesses invested in the products they manufactured and from the new inventions. The textbook also states that now banks were involved, people would be encouraged by the availability of bank loans in order to expand their operations and invest in new machines. This economy grew to the point there were overseas trade, this of course meant that Japan is out in the open becoming exposed to the industrialization life, leaving their life of isolation behind to modernize and expand their nations economy as a whole. Businessmen during that time have stated that the economy would prosper and it has been proven to the achievements gained from industrialization. This shows that industrialization was a turning point in history because it caused nations economy to grow, it had the result of the economy of many nations to expand like Britain’s and Japan’s and Europe as a whole. Industrialization has also lead many to open their minds to new ideas, ideas such as new inventions that were being manufactured and the new jobs that was being made to expand the economy.
However not everyone had benefited from this industrial society. People had to withstand the changes that happened during this time, one of them was the transition from domestic life into industrial life. The agricultural revolution paves the way that made small farmers to forfeit their land for a price so the agricultural revolution could spread throughout the countryside, this lead small farmers to go to urban cities in order to find a job and support themselves and their family. This quick change caused flood of people throughout the streets of the cities, this has also caused the factories and mines to be crowded with workers, and the more they came in the lower the wages went. People have gone from their comfortable lives of working and living on their own into a society of working hours with very pay. People had worked in comfort while they were in the countryside in contrast to the their industrial life where people worked in dangers and unsanitary conditions. The people that worked had strict schedules, the workers day were compacted with hours of work, nearly 16 hours of work everyday with hardly any break and this schedule was for children and adults, the textbook states that work started at 5 p.m., this is earlier than the time the children of today wake up to go to school. This change did not give the opportunities for jobs to every citizen, many of these citizens that were jobless had live in the slums, the most unsanitary areas with broken road and this was the place where the filthy lived. This wasn’t the end of joblessness, as the industrial revolution continued more machines were being manufactured and as these machines get manufactured the more jobs they replace, people end up becoming jobless and this is one of the reasons children started to work in the factories. This creating tension of the classes, the middle class who made wealth as the economy grew and from the wealth the got from investing in machines and their products and the working class who worked in labor, working long hours non-stop and having to do hard work with very little pay. The textbook however states that the long-term affects were beneficial, soon enough the laborers won higher wages, shorter hours and better working conditions. This shows that the industrial revolution was a turning point because the industrial revolution has changed many lives from working in the farmlands to work in the cities that had unsanitary working conditions, but eventually they won higher wages, got shorter hours and had better working conditions, thus changing society as we know it.
Of course this was all this could no be achieved if their weren’t idealists supporting their believes of what this society should be like. There are people who have supported the problems of the working class and those who believe society should be left as it is. Robert Owen was one of the few that actually supported the working classes problems and this was supported main in New Lanark, Owen’s he didn’t allow children under the age of 10 to work, and the young worker that did work only worked for a short ten and three quarter hour day. Owen didn’t believe of punishing the workers, neither the adults nor the children, Owen believed in discipline rather than fear. He placed safe and sanitary condition for the workers and if there were any objection to any regulation the doors of the factory manager stood open, free for anyone to come in and comment. This wasn’t the end of Owen’s work, in fact he had bigger ideas for the betterment of humanity, which he had presented to a special committee in the Parliament. Karl Marx was another man concerned for the working class, he believed that it was incorrect for the employer would get all the wealth form Capitalism while leaving the working class in poverty. He figured that the only solution to this was to abolish private property, this meant bringing all means of production into the hand of the state. This was to organize the working class as the ruling class, this will result in the end of class struggles.
These ideas and events illustrated and explained that industrialization was a turning point in history. Industrialization has shown to change the lives of many and change the nation as a whole in terms of economy and wealth. The nation exploded in wealth from this industrialization period where people demanded products, goods and foods. As more people invest on new advancing machines the economy keeps growing, as more jobs open more products are being manufactured and from oversea trade for supplies of life necessaries and luxuries. The industrial revolution has also changed the lives of many, as for the middle class they got wealthy from investing in the manufactured products such as new inventions, cloth and other goods. Other civilian lives has changed because of the ideals of Karl Marx and Robert Owen, working conditions has improved and improved the laws of child labor and giving, giving the working class higher wages. The industrial revolution was a turning point because of all the tremendous changes it had in society, they are now becoming more modernized lead us near to the future and moving away from the old rules and the society of the past.

  13. Was the industrial revolution a turning point in history?
    –   The industrial revolution was one of the major turning points in history because the introduction of new machinery changed us and how we work with technology for the rest of our lives and It impacted us politically, economic and socially. The industrial revolution began in Victorian England since they had the natural resources which lead them to the success for the initiation of the industrial revolution. England has many useful resources at their disposal such as wood, coal, iron, and people. They also had rivers which was good for transportation of these resources. The major reason the industrial revolution developed in great Britain in the 1700s was because of great Britain’s geographic features. Before the industrial revolution was the domestic system and life in the rural countryside. Before the people would work inside their homes and used raw materials for spinning,  weaving, and sewing uniforms for the British army. Life in the rural countryside was healthy and comfortable to work on a safe environment. Then soon after the enclosure act sent all of the workers from the rural area to the urban area. Then the factory system was processed. Now they are working with machines. These machines mostly did most of the work for them but much more precise and faster then the people. Therefore it created many problems with the economy such as unemployment. Now that the machines were the replacement of the people, many now have no jobs no money and no home. The industrial revolution had an impact on children as well because it made them more delicate and Ill. Children’s started to work and worked for more than 13 hours and having little as one hour break every day. The children would get sick from the bacterias in the factories, if they inhaled a lot of small threads then they would get many diseases that could kill them. They faced the circumstances and if they got sick it was up to them to work no matter what. They were also put in coal mines because they were fit for the job and small enough. They were given candles and had to carry lots of coal on their back. According to Thomas Malthus essay on population. He believed that the rate of human reproduction was overloading the Population and if there’s an increase in population then there would be a decrease in food growth development. And this would lead to starvation and threatening many lives. Therefore he created a new kind of general checks he called the preventive check which was to reduce the birth rate and positive check which increased the death rate. the preventive check was to use birth control and limit their family size to not lose most of their money between them. The positive check was used as an increase in death rate by spreading diseases such as famine, and plague. He also used misery and war. Thomas thought that the positive check was best suited for the job more than the  preventive check. Herbert Spencer had thought about the ideas of evolution such as Charles Darwin had explained. Charles believed that animals evolved through variation and natural selection of those most fit to survive in particular environments. he believed that they served through a process called evolution. Evolution was a process which takes a long time and it’s when a species changes to adapt to there changing environment, it was survival of the fittest. Herbert Spencer used almost the same idea instead he applied it to society and the economy. He called this social Darwinism and that means only the strong survive and the weak would die and become extinct such as the poor and homeless. He had removed the weak and made the rich and strong stay. Japan was an isolated country, opened to nobody but themselves. The Tokugawa Shogunate closed the doors from Japan and they are ethnocentric which means an extreme nationalism. Matthew Perry arrives in Japan, he was the messenger and gave the Tokugawa Shogunate a letter from the president of the United States. The purpose of the letter was for Japan to agree to a diplomatic treaty. And they wanted Japan to open the door to the western world. And now that they had broken their seclusion policy and made him sign the treaty. And now this has lead to the Meiji Restoration. The meji Restoration of Japan made them modernize socially and economically, this gave them access to railroads Which made transportation easier. They also had cultural diffusion and they became an industrialized society. Therefore as a result the industrial revolution was a major turning point in European political and social history because it changes the way we view technology and the introduction of new machinery.

  14. Write an argument responding to the following question:
“Was the Industrial Revolution a turning point in history?”
Great Britain underwent a great and one of the biggest changes in history which was the Industrial Revolution and this impacted us today. The Industrial Revolution bought with it advanced machinery, new ideas, and definitely altered Great Britain as we know it. Of course, all of this is the very definition of a turning point. Previously, Britain would be a more relaxed location. It would be a place where people would manufacture products but they would also have time to rest before they commence again. There would also be plenty of farmland as well as plenty of jobs. Britain later discovered coal, a source of power that could get the job done much quicker than the electricity supplied by water or what was their usual source of power. This changed everything and since work was done faster and businesses were booming, more factories were made resulting in great change to farmland which was taken away and so a great amount of people working or making crops in farmland got their jobs taken away from them. Of course, more factories lead to more people looking for a job. People at work could no longer rest and eat right but instead they were forced to work large amount of hours and even kids had to work because some families, especially of farmers, were too poor. The wages were also low, no one could really be social. The Industrial Revolution made a big political impact on England as well. Political thinkers saw the Industrial Revolution as a way to change England’s government and its factories. Men like Adam Smith wanted the government to stay out of the factories business and to allow business owners to make their own rules for the employees. A man named Thomas Malthus, who wrote an essay on human population, thought that people should die as a result of the Industrial Revolution because there were too many and that there would not be enough to feed everyone in Great Britain. The Industrial Revolution easily defines a turning point because of some of the major impacts it had on Great Britain and us today because we have learned from the inventions of Britain and have developed it and now there are factories almost everywhere but we also learned to fair to the employees who work at some jobs. It was unfair how some employees have worked and there really was no rules. Today, we probably learned that this was not fair and have changed the rules to keep it fair for both the employer and employees. The Industrial Revolution changed how we think about industry and thus is a turning point in history.

  15. “Was the Industrial Revolution a turning point in history?” Ofcourse it was! The Industrial Revolution was a time period where there was mass production through machines in the factories. During the Industrial Revolution the farmers in the countryside were being convinced that they should move to the cities and get jobs in the factories and that they will get jobs with higher wages. The farmers started to move, in fact so many farmers started to move to the cities that there was only 22% of farming left in the countryside and everyone left to the cities. However, soon the farmers that were left on the land were forced out of their property and sent to the cities. In the factories, the percentage of unemployment started to increase. The cities were crowded and people began to be desperate for jobs. Even if one mistake, one would get fired. People were seperated by social classes and were out of sight of the fortunate classes. People were living in unhealthy conditions and disgusting slums. There were not a lot of reasources, and some people were in working in the most dangerous conditions. There were no safety hazards which was extremely risky since children were also hired on the job. Over all, people were making very little money to support their families. However the bosses made more money then the employers by doing nothing and profiting off their factory business.

Soon Robert Owen came up with a Utopian Society, which improved the lives of the working class during the Industrial Revolution in England. In this society, children under ten or eleven weren’t aloud to work. Nobody in this society was punished. People were aloud to complain and give their opinions to their boss. Children under the of 3 would be given education, while the older kids did gardening which stretched out to crops.

During the Industrial Revolution, Charles Darwin had came up with a theory. He believed that Animals evolved through variations and natural selection of those most fit to survive in particular environments. Species that successfully adapted to meet the changing requirments of their natural habits thrived while those who failed to evolve and reproduce died off. However, Charles Darwin’s theory was connected to the currents event going on in society. Herbert Spencer’s, “social darwinism” , the idea of the survival of the fittest in socety meant that people who were more wealthier and powerful were the signs of fitness and mankind benefited from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit. Thomas Malthus believed that to prevent the increase in population so there will be more space for the humans currently living was by spreading illnesses such as plague or by war.

  16. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history that impacted many people. The Industrial Revolution began in England due to its abundance of Marryat resources that were used for Industrialization, such as coal and iron ore. Also Britain had many rivers and natural harbors that were used to transport goods. One reason why she Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history is because there was a drastic change from the domestic system to the factory system. Another reason why the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history is because it caused the Mejia restoration in Japan.

The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history because there was a shift from rural life to urban life. This shift of lifestyle is important because they went from producing products by hand or simple machinery have become more bigger and complex machinery. Therefore being capable of mass producing items instead of only being able to make a certain amount. This also allowed industries to make more products for less money. Another reason why the Industrial Revolution changed life is because new inventions made life easier for people. An example would be the steam engine, it was important because it lead to both steamboats and steam locomotive being influenced, which made transportation simpler and quicker.

The Industrial Revolution cause changes all the way in Japan. The reason why this is so significant is because Japan used to be enthocentric, meaning that they isolated themselves off the rest of the world. Then with the help of America, Japan began catching up with the rest of the world. One way that the Industrial Revolution changed life in Japan would be that there was cultural diffusion. Japanese people started wearing different clothing from different countries, a change in architecture, different music, and a larger variety in food. Another way that the Industrial Revolution caused the Meiji restoration is that there was a large amount of items being manufactured, and increased the imports and exports around the world. This one is a very beneficial factor b cause it improved Japan’s economy, which helped them later on in wars and left them to be victorious. The Industrial Revolution also lead to technological advancements. This was extremely helpful because they went from using swords to fight to using guns. Some other interventions included train tracks and the improved transportation of people, soldiers, weapons, products and many more items not just throughout Japan but the world.

  17. The Industrial Revolution was turning point in history because back then, people were living in small farm lands and everything was hand made. Soon, people made machines and became more aware of technology in order to grow plants faster and to have more food. Unfortunately, there were rich farmers who bought other farmers land to make more crops to grow and more food so the farmers had to move out into the cities. They thought they were going to have an easy time working in the cities but it really was worse working there in the factories. Factories were highly unsafe and even killed the workers like the accidental explosions in the coal mines. Coal was are main resources for energy and iron ore for tools. Children were even brought to work because of the low income each employee gets so their parents sent them to work in order to support the family. They were beaten if they did not do what the owner asked and barely ate so they were considered as thin and fragile. The employers treat them extremely unfairly because they are the ones who are wealthier than them. Since more workers want to work for them, they decide to give the employees less income. This result into the philosopher of the Industrial Revolution, however, one of the philosophers named, Herbert Spencer who made the idea of Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is based on the scientist, Charles Darwin and his theory on Natural Selection. It is when an animal dies off when they can not adapt to their environment so according to Spencer, the poor people would not survive and only the rich people. “Survival of the fittest.” The three other philosophers were Thomas Malthus, Robert Owen, and Karl Marx. Thomas Malthus philosophy was to decrease the population because the birth rate is higher than the production food so he want to prevent wholesale starvation. Robert Owen to make a “utopian society” so no children had to go to work but to receive a proper education. Workers would also not receive punishment and get daily feedback on their work ethic whether it is good or bad, however all of them receive excellent or good. Karl Marx philosophy is Communism which means every property such as private own houses and factories are to be controlled by the government or country so everybody will be equal. The Industrial Revolution also changed Japan. Japan used to be a very nationalist country but when they saw the technology when America came over to them, they were blown away. America got there through war ships and showed them the weapons they had such as guns. Japan started to realize their mistake because they still had swords so they soon start to industrialize and become more open to countries. This was the time of the Meiji Restoration. I think the Industrial Revolution connects with the Renaissance because everything started to become more positive than the past but then, there started to be problems and people start to think about ideas and speak for themselves. The Renaissance Protestant Reformation gave people ideas of their religion and what they are doing. The Industrial Revolution and philosophers gave their ideas of how society of business should go or how people should be treated in factories.

  18. Industrial Revolution was a change that advanced countries and cities. The change was very harsh for the people because they had to work really and also children used to work instead of getting proper education. It wasn’t for long because there were many ideologists who wanted to make changes in the Industrial Society, where they wanted to give the labors better facility. But all the ideologists were the same because some wanted the owner to have more than the labors. There were also social classes in the Industrial Revolution. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history because it made the development of urban cities possible and brought up new ideologists for the Industrial Society. The changes of the Industrial Revolution didn’t just change the history, also changed people’s lives.
The industrial Revolution was a turning point in the history because it made people to move from rural to urban cities for better lives and works and for better social lives. Based on the history of Industrial Revolution, people were being promised to get a good social life in the urban cities and were also being promised to get good jobs and higher wages. It shows that the Industrial Revolution is a hope to people’s lives because it will make people’s lives more advanced and wealthy. Based on the outside information the first time people had a good life then it all changed and ends up giving the people hard time or in other words made people’s lives harder and harsh.
The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in the history because it brought new ideologists to the Industrial Revolution to change the lives in the Industrial Society for the labors who were being treated badly and for more facilities for the workers. Based on the idea of Karl Marx, government should have the power over the factories, economy, products, and resources and people shouldn’t have their own private property to demolish the struggle of social classes. It shows that there would be no more social class wars between people in the Industrial Society if people let the government control everything. I think that this would really work because the owners of the factories think they are one who has all the power and not the lower classes or working classes.
In conclusion, basically the Industrial Revolution was a change that didn’t just change the history, but also the world because it helped the world advance and socially make people equal by encouraging people to build complex machines to make people’s lives easier and bringing new ideas for the society to stay equal. It also impacted the economy of the industrialized cities by allowing them to produce trading goods and commercialize them. Don’t you think that Industrial Revolution had brought good change in people’s lives?

  19. The Industrial Revolution is one event that can be defined as a turning point. The Industrial Revolution was very important as it still impacts us today. It is a very significant event because in changed so much and continues to change us today. The Industrial Revolution started off by changing equipment and processes. People residing on the countryside had all their purchased and taken over by soon to be factory owners. This allowed the landowners to experiment with the land finding what was best for it as well as well creating innovations for it. Along with the good came the bad. The people who didn’t want to move to the urban side were forcibly relocated due to the Enclosure Acts. As people were being moved in Britain the country started advancing as well. The geographical features of Britain exalted the Industrial Revolution because of the many advantages. Britain had a large supply of iron ore and cook enabling technology to be promoted. Additionally, Britain had favorable trade routes which could be used once their business was set. Now all the people from the countryside were in the urban city, finding it completely foreign, whereas landowners took advantage of the people and absence of a government. The previous villagers/farmers now had to work. Rather than completing tasks with their orthodox methods, they were introduced to machinery. A machine’s main purpose is to simplify a woman’s tasks, however that was not the case at the time. As industrialization gained popularity, children were put at work as well. More people meant less pay, to the factory owners at least. As people were working over time with minimum may, there was no one to help. There was no government yet certain ppeople did take a look at their plight, either sympathizing or taking the side of the bourgeoisie. Adam Smith believed laissez-faire, meaning hands off. This was referring to the government’s interference with the business industry. Albeit this could have been considered an insignificantly small detail of history it ignited capitalism. Capitalism is an economic system which revolves around the factory owners and their profits. It only concerns the bourgeoisie as well as benefits them due to their profit earned as well as private property. Other philosophers who actually addressed issues faced by the workers was Robert Owen and Karl Marx. In fact RRobert Owen took action for the injustices faced by the poor. Owen builtd his own version of a utopian society. This improved lives for the working class. Currently the workers had sanitary factories and tasks and tasks resided in what would be the equivalent of the slums. In Owen’s land, he had houses for workers, schools, and placed garbage piled neatly. Karl Marx, on the other hand, introduced an idea similarly to Adam Smith. Karl Marx had a pamphlet publish with the assistance of his friend, discussing issue faced by the proletarians. He believed they could get their rights by overthrowing the bourgeoisie. He found the treatment of the proletarians to be solved by reacting with a treatment just as harsh. He supported communism as well as socialism, both including the welfare of society. This affected the country by realising long postponed fermented acts. This slightly differedby improving ways the worker’s treatment and environment. The owners cleaned up the factories, set age restrictions, ending what is considered child labor (during their time). As the Industrial Revolution changed Britain, it also managed to alter the country never though to even be interacting with, Japan. During the 1850’s, President Milled planned to end Japan’s isolation with worked but slowly. He wrote to Japan in hopes of having them sign a diplomatic treaty yet was unwelcome. Commodore Matthew visitedwith advanced technology, which Japan found to be intimidating. Overtime, Japan loosened up as it’s neighbours convinced it to open up it’s ports. Japan started to modernize and was also taught how to sail in only a matter of seven years. This ended their isolation and began their interaction with foreign countries. The Industrial Revolution not only influenced the area and people of where it began but around the workday as well. The Industrial Revolution is considered to be the second turning point which sparked a change in inventions. This occurrence has led us to where we are today. The Industrial Revolution is one of the few turning points which makes you question whether it was for the better or the worse. A small amount of modernization wasn’t to bad but was it the same even that caused us to be where we are today? The ever lasting effect of the Industrial Revolution easily categorizes it as a turning point.

  20. The Industrial Revolution was a major turning point in history because it not only caused several political and economic changes, but many new mindsets also emerged from this period in history. One of the major results of the Industrial Revolution was the change from the domestic system to the factory system. Before the Industrial Revolution, when there weren’t factories, goods and products all had to be made by hand and/or with the aid of very simple machines. Due to this, the quantity of the products being made wasn’t very high. On (http://history-world.org/Industrial%20Intro.htm), it states, “They had to spend long, tedious hours of hand labor even on simple objects. The energy, or power, they employed in work came almost wholly from their own and animals’ muscles. The Industrial Revolution is the name given the movement in which machines changed people’s way of life as well as their methods of manufacture” This quote shows just a glimpse into the lives the people who had to spend hours making simple products that a machine could have produced in a matter of minutes! The Industrial Revolution wasn’t just a turning point in the lives of the people who worked in the factories, it was also a turning point in the way products were produced. The modernization of production also led to a shift from rural life to urban living. On (http://history-world.org/Industrial%20Intro.htm), it states, “When the Industrial Revolution started, work moved from cottages to the new factories, where the large new machines could be centralized in one location and powered by water or, later, steam engines. And so, the cottage industry merchants were the forerunners of the factory owners in industrial times, entrepreneurs who would take ownership of machines but continue the practice of relying on cheap labor.” This quote shows how impactful the Industrial Revolution on people’s lifestyles, and what a drastic change it caused. The Industrial Revolution also brought about many new ideologies, one of the most significant being Herbert Spencer’s Social Darwinism. Herbert Spencer believed that the theories of Darwin; such as “survival of the fittest”, could be applied to social, political and economic issues. In Modern History Sourcebook: Herbert Spencer: Social Darwinism, 1857 [adapted], it states, “Spencer also applied Darwinian Theory to human development, arguing that wealth and power were signs of fitness and that mankind benefited from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit. According to Social Darwinism, those with strength (economic, physical, technological) flourish and those without are destined for extinction.” Many believed that Spencer’s theory in a way “justified” everything that was happening to the poor and the underprivileged, although it is very clear that human intervention could have saved the lives of the workers. The reason why this theory is significant is because this theory led to many events through history for decades to come. One of the most infamous cases of Social Darwinism being used to justify horrible acts was the Holocaust. On (http://creation.com/darwinism-and-world-war-one), it states, “While the belief in German superiority led the Nazis to exterminate “undesirable” individuals, during WW1 German Darwinists used the same idea to justify war on states which they deemed inferior. They believed that the destiny of the master race was to dominate or eliminate “inferior” races, and the most obvious way to accomplish this was through war. In their view, all races and states were in competition for survival, and those who would not wage war would perish.” This is just one of the many instances in history where this concept has been used to “justify” racial and social superiority.

  21. The Industrial Revolution was in fact a turning point in History. One event that helps prove that Industrial Revolution is a turning point is the Meiji Restoration in Japan. The Meiji Restoration was a point in time where japan began to open up their doors and began to become modernize with the rest on the world , which benefited them for the better. In the document , “Japan After the Meiji Restoration” it states, It was recognized that industrial and commercial development was a much surer guarantee of greatness than military power……In this proficiency Japan desired to be the England of the East.” This evidence showed that since Japan allowed the Industrial ways of England to enter into their nation ,they have benefited more and have gained more power then when they where shut out from the world and relied on the Military power which created a turning point in Japan due to industrialization. Another event that represents a turning point due to the Industrial revolution is the ideas of Karl Marx. Karl marx was for the people and believed that deserved to be treated good and get what they work for . To further explain one idea that he expressed was , “Aroused and united by the communist…the workers will rise up and overthrow their capitalist oppressors…They will take over the means of production and seize political power…. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win.” this piece of text shows that karl marx believed that the workers should basically revolt against the industry for more rights and benefits which was a turning point because it was the start of unions which helped to protect the workers rights .This connects to how revolts helped the people who began to revolt against the church’s during the enlightenment to help show their own mind set, which in fact was also a turning point in history. One final example of how the industrial revolution was a turning point is the change from the domestic system to the factory system. Before the industrial revolution people made things by hand such as sheets clothing, ect. With the start of the industrial revolution the machines made things , so although it took the jobs of the sewers, ect. it helped to make more profits because it made products faster , quicker and probably better quality which made a turning point in production in society. These are some examples of how the Industrial Revolution was in fact a turning point in history.

  22. The Industrial Revolution in my opinion was a turning point in history because many things changed and this impacted people. First it started with all the new inventions during the agricultural revolution to help farming process easier. Then people in the countryside with small farms were forced off their lands and they were moved into an urban life. Then they had to work in factories with really low wages. They made kids work and they didn’t receive an education.
Other than new machineries at the time there were also new people with different ideas that impacted societies and new events occurring. One huge event that occurred was the Meiji Restoration. This was when Japan started to become more industrialized because they had their doors closed all this time and they didn’t know what was occurring in the outside world.
It wasn’t only this huge event in history, but also many people and their opinions impacted the industrial revolution. For example, Herbert Spencer with his idea of Social Darwinism impacted the ideas of society. He thought that the weak would become extinct and the rich would flourish. All these ideas prove that the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history because there were many things that impacted society and people.

  23. A turning point in history is seen as an event that changes one’s lifestyle. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history because of the shift from rural to urban living. Herbert Spencer and Robert Owen were also responsible for the turning point in the Industrial Revolution. Herbert Spencer believed in the social Darwinism, which contributed to the Industrial Revolution. Robert Owen believed in utopian socialism, which also contributed to the working class during the Industrial Revolution. According to the shift from rural life to urban life, the ideologies of Herbert Spencer, and the ideologies of Robert Owen, the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history.
The shift from the rural living to the urban living was a turning point in history. A cause of the emigration is the fact that the urban areas promised an appealing social life. The urban areas had new opportunities for the people that were not available in the rural areas. The Document “A Better Life” written by Mike Winstanley states, “Urban areas not only offered jobs with higher pay, but promised a varied and appealing social life, which appealed particularly to young men and women who found life in a small community both oppressive and dull.” This shows that they moved from one place to the other in hopes of a new and better life. The sudden move was seen as a turning point because it changed people’s lifestyle. Because they moved from the countryside to a city, people began to be more social. To conclude, migrating from the rural to the urban areas was a turning point because it provided for more job opportunities, a higher pay, and a better social life.
The ideologies of Herbert Spencer and Robert Owen were both turning points in history. To begin with, the ideologies of Herbert Spencer contributed to the Industrial Revolution in terms of Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is the ideas of adaptation and survival of the fittest. Essentially, those who are best suitable for the environment will continue to reproduce with those traits, and those who cannot handle the environment die off. This relates to the Industrial Revolution because the rich and wealthy are best suited for the environment. In a document discussed in class, it stated, “…Wealth and power were signs of fitness and that mankind benefited from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit.” The rich continued to live with the environment because they were able to support themselves. The poor did not have enough money to feed themselves, and so they would die out, making them unsuitable for the environment. Furthermore, the ideologies of Robert Owen were a turning point in history. Robert Owen believed in a Utopian Society, which essentially improved the lives of the factory workers. Inside of the factories, there were children working on dangerous machines. After Robert Owen’s ideas, there were no children under the age of 10 working. He children that labored only did so for a short ten and three quarter hour day. Furthermore, the working conditions of the workers improved. The disciplinary rules for punishments changed for the better. Instead of getting paid fewer wages, the punishments were more so handled by gentleness.
Some believe that the Industrial Revolution was not a turning point in history. They may think so because the events that happened were not very important, and so it was not considered a “turning point”. However, this statement is untrue. They were considered turning points because they changed the way that people saw things, and it changed the way that they lived their lives. For instance, in Japan, the Meji Restoration was encouraged by a fear that they would be colonized by western nations. Therefore, Japan increased their foreign trade. This was a turning point because it changed the lifestyle of the Japanese. It led them to desire a modern industrialized society. Overall, the industrial revolution changed Japan’s society and led them to increase trade.
The change from rural to urban life, the ideologies of Herbert Spencer, and the ideologies of Robert Owen all contributed to the Industrial Revolution, making it a turning point in history. Robert Owen believed in better working conditions for the employees in factories. His ideas changed the way that businesses ran, leading to age limits on work, and overall better opportunities. Herbert Spencer believed in adaptation and survival of the fittest. Because the rich had more money, they were able to access their daily necessities, which led them to flourish. Whereas the poor were not able to support themselves; they did not have enough money for food, which led them to die out and be seen as the weakest link. The change from the countryside to city living was seen as a turning point because it led to people being more social and having more job opportunities. In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history.

  24. Was the Industrial Revolution a turning point in history? Many historians have argued this over the past decades. It is fair to say that it was a turning point. Many good things came out of it, and many bad things as well. Both of these are contributing factors that can have a huge impact in history. Industrialization had a huge impact on Victorian England. With the discovery of coal, many jobs opened up. Coal was in such a high demand, so many mining jobs were opened. This helped the economy because people now had jobs and could feed their families. It was also a very dangerous job. Women and children had to crawl into small holes with candles and if they came in contact with gas they would blow up. Due to this many new laws were made in favor of the workers. Japan, a secluded country, was also greatly affected. They were isolated for centuries, and now when foreigners came, they were able to make their own version of the steam engine and advance very fast. Many people that lived in the country side were forced to move to the cities. They were forced off their land so large companies can grow food. However, some people wanted to go on an adventure and went to the cities on their own will. A bunch of new people started coming up with lots of new ideas. Overall the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history.

  25. Advancement in technology and philosophy was huge and ultimately led to this turning point in history.“Was the Industrial Revolution a turning point in history?” Historians all agree that it indeed was, who could forget about change from the domestic system to the factory system, shift from rural (countryside) life to urban (city living), new ideologies of Thomas Malthus, Herbert Spencer, Robert Owen and Karl Marx, Meiji Restoration?
The use of the Factory System allowed for mass production of textiles and other goods. This shifted people from production at home with the Put Out System, to production in large factories in cities. Mass production also allowed for lower prices on the good produced.Africa, China, India, South East Asia, and others were controlled by Europe to provide raw materials and new markets for industrialized goods. Imperialism had a negative effect on most of these cultures, and did not completely end until after World War II. Imperialism usually only benefited the European nations.
There was even a new social class structure. There were 4 classes, the working class which consisted of factory workers and small farmers, the lower middle class which consisted of teachers, shop owners etc,the upper middle class which consisted of professionals such as lawyers as well as doctors, and lastly the upper class which consisted of very rich industrial families.
Many people were driven out of rural area for the simple reason that they could not provide for their families and had to find work. There were so many people taking any job they could get, even if there were poor working conditions, even kids were working, until of course there were reforms made To improve conditions.Factory workers worked very long hours, for little pay, under harsh conditions. The steam engine was the power source of the Industrial Revolution. To be wealthy was a blessing during this time because during this era there wasn’t really a balance, it was the beginning of big business and technology. The Industrial Revolution was a major turning point in world history as it resulted in a complete change in society on all levels.
Karl Max was a well known philosopher at the time, he had certain feelings on the direction society was taking and whether or not it would lead to the final product he envisioned. According to Karl Marx, he viewed industrialization a further stage in the dehumanization of workers and as an essential stepping stone towards the revolutionary processes he was certain would come. In other words he liked the direction the technology was taking and all the advancement but didn’t really like the way things were panning out for the poeople struggling and how the workers worked tirelessly for low pay, he didn’t like that there was no balance.
The industrial revolution was indeed a turning point in history, without all the industrialization who knows where we would be today? This was a time of advancement, learning and building of a fully fledged society. There were mixed opinions such as Karl Maxs which may be the most well known. Overall life was changing for the people and the government.

  26. The Industrial Revolution a turning point in history due to the impact it had over people. One reason why the industrial revolution was a turning point in history was because of the drastic change from the domestic system to the factory system. The domestic system was safer and better for the workers because they were more relaxed and had more space to work in. When they were forced to work in factories the conditions were horrific and it was unsafe to work in. During the domestic system the workers worked in a good amount of space. After people were forced to work in factories it wasn’t a pleasant experience for them. Since people were so desperate for a job the managers paid the workers a small amount of money, because of that they couldn’t afford to support their families so they were forced to send their children to work. Instead of children going to school they had to work in factories for 14-15 hours a day. If they got tired they would be strapped. The children would be so tired that their parents had to carry them out of bed. If anyone arrived to work late they would be severely beaten. If the workers quit their job they could’ve been easily replaced because people were desperate for jobs. The factories were badly build, it was unhealthy for the health of the workers, and it was in disgusting condition. Another reason why the industrial revolution was a turning point in history was because Robert Owen established a Utopian society at New Lanark in England. At New Lanark, there were neat rows of workers house and there were streets with the garbage neatly piled up. Robert Owens Utopian socialist society helped improve the lives of the working class during the industrial revolution in England because he suggested forming villages of cooperation in which between 800 and 1,200 people would work together to support themselves. Families lived in group houses. They shared playrooms, reading rooms, and kitchens. Children over the age of three were to live separately so they can receive a proper education. Children that were slightly older were allowed to take care of the school gardens. During the time where families had to work in factories children didn’t receive education. Instead they went to work around the dangerous machines. Another reason why the industrial revolution was a turning point in history was because of the ideas of Herbert Spencer. he was inspired from Charles Darwin’s theories and the general application of “adaptation” and “survival of the fittest.” Social Darwinism was basically some people superior oppose to other people. According to social Darwinism, those with strength (economic, physical, technological) thrived and those without destined for extinction. The strongest or fittest should survive and flourish in society, while the weak and unfit should be allowed to die. This is considered racist as people who were slaves were considered less than human and therefore weak or unfit. Social Darwinism refers to the impression of struggle for existence being used to justify social policies which show no sympathy for those unable to support themselves. All three people greatly transformed the Industrial revolution because they helped people become open minded and more realistic. Robert Owen helped people that were struggle because of their jobs in the factories. The industrial Revolution is linked to imperialism because the technological advances of the Industrial Revolution caused an increased need for raw materials that encouraged the rise of European imperialism.
European improvements in weapons which made un-industrialized nations easier to defeat in battles. Steamboats and railroads made Europeans more capable of power to distant colonies, which gave the European powers to control larger areas. Improvements in transportation also gave Europeans better access to distant markets. That gave them a place to sell the manufactured goods that they made with their new technology (stem boats ,railroads, etc.) This is linked to the industrial revolution because the Meiji restoration was a time when the Japanese “modernized” their country. They created railroads to help with the importation and exportation of goods and it helped people travel distant areas they couldn’t travel before. Engineering helped transport resources throughout Japan, resources started to increase, and traded started to increase.

  27. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history. For example in the documents that I have read the pictures show that females were sewing in a room altogether probably gossiping but the thing is that they seem comfortable because they were all together, while on the other hand people who worked in factories look like they were miserable. They had very poor working conditions such as no windows and very dangerous machines. These people didn’t get to decide any more who they wanted to work with such as their families and friends but instead by strangers. You no longer had the choice to be able to work while gossiping but just be quiet and do a lot of work for really low pay.I honestly feel bad for all the people that lived during this time especially the children because if you’re only like eight then you should be able to live your childhood like a normal kid.Not be working in factories for like 15 hours and only getting paid a few cents that won’t even help your family that much. The documents I read also proved that people had trouble getting used to their new lives. For example they lived in very large farms on the countryside where everyone was together, they were getting fed and had a healthy life. Then they moved to the city it really wasn’t their choice because they got kicked off their land, they now started to live in slums because of the bad money that they made in factories. Slums were very unhealthy, they were filled with feces everywhere, and it was also very cold.Rats were usually roaming around with men a lot of diseases, which started to kill most of the people that live there. Charles Darwin was someone who made the industrial revolution even worse he believed that species that successfully adapted to meet the changing requirements of their natural habitat thrived, while those that failed to evolve and reproduce died off. Charles Darwin is connecting his ideas with people he believes that if you are a person and you’re able to adapt to a new environment you will succeed while if you fail you’ll just die. Herbert Spencer follows the idea of social Darwinism, “ the strong survive” the document states that “ Spencer also apply Darwinian theory to human development, arguing that wealth and power were signs of fitness and that mankind benefit from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit. according to social Darwinism those with strength (economic, physical, technological) Flourish and those without are destined for extension. This to me is a very bad way of thinking because you can’t judge someone just based on their money. Poor people can be very intelligent and sometimes it can even be the opposite where a poor person has such a great brain while a rich person doesn’t know how to use it. So to me anyone who believe in this idea was probably rich since they didn’t have to suffer at this time unlike the poor. Thomas Malthus believe that natural rate of human reproduction when unchecked would lead to geometric increases in population. he said that there were two general kind of checks to limit population growth, preventive checks and positive check. This document states that preventative checks reduce the birth rate and positive checks increase the death rate. Birth control was the primary preventative check and the positive checks were famine, misery, plague and war because preventative checks had not limited the number. This is a very hard thing to do because they want to have diseases so that population can decrease just because they didn’t want a lot of people. Overall the industrial revolution impacted many peoples live in a negative way except for the factory owners because they made more money.

  28. The Industrial Revolution was definitely a huge turning point in history. Due to the Industrial Revolution many countries changed the ways goods were produced and came up with many new innovations. Life had completely changed from a rural to more of a city life. Many farmers were forced off their lands and were forced to be factory workers in big cities. The larger farms took over the lands of the smaller farm owners. According to Agricultural Revolution in England 1500-1850 “Since more food was being produced the small farmers was forced off their land so land could be purchased and large farms could be established as a result of the Enclosure Act” As Farmers were forced out they took jobs in the city where they worked as factory workers with very poor conditions. Before, farmers were able to take breaks an live some what of a stress free life on their farms and do work at their leisure. After they moved to the city times changed and they work very hard were there was no room for error because there were many waiting to take their place. Due to the Industrial Revolution many new ideologist came along such as Karl Marx, Friedrich Engles, Robert Owen, Thomas Malthus and Herbert Spencer.
Karl Marx believed and created communism. He was know as the father of communism. His ideas consisted of equality between factory workers and owners. “Communist theory is summed up in a single sentence. Abolish private property, bring all means of production into the hands of the state.” States The communist Manifesto. He had many ideas of equality. Friedrich Engles also had similar ideas to Karl Max he wanted equality because factory workers had very little rights. During this time Herbert Spencer changed the way Darwins new theories applied. Spencer strongly believed in the idea of “Adaptation” and “Survival of the fittest”. He thought the factory workers were weaker and didn’t deserve anything because they weren’t the fittest. According to the “Modern History Sourcebook”it states “wealth and power were signs of fitness and that mankind benefited from intense competition and removal of the weak and unfit.” This Changed Industrial society because of the fact that it gave all of the business men the power and the factory workers were treated poorly. Also, Thomas Malthus’ had ideas during this industrial change. Malthus believed that the ration of food to people in the world was rapidly growing and that our population should be reduced. According to “Thomas Malthus essay on population” its states “Positive checks were famine, misery, plague and war”. These were his ideas to get rid of the the population of the poor. Lastly, Robert Owen his ideas consisted of the the fact that society was a utopia. this Utopia set out a foundation for many factory workers especially children. “For another surprise there were no children in the factories” states Robert Owens Utopian Socialism. He was creating a basis and norm that children weren’t working in factories. This was a huge turning point because it helped working conditions and help end child labor.Through history children’s schooling became much more important people fought for schooling for handicaps and dialed children. Therefore, the Industrial Revolution was a major turing point in history because of many of the events and ideas that came about to shape our society.

  29. The Industrial revolution was a great change in people’s lifestyle and it impacted not only Britian and U.S but almost the entire world positively. Before the Industrial Revolution life was seen as very peaceful and calm. After the revolution many people changed their life and tried to make it more efficient, compared to before they became more hardworking and desperate for more than just the basic needs of life.
Many people can argue that the Industrial Revolution wasn’t seen as that of a positive impact during that time. The main cause of it was very much agricultural. When big farming corporations took over the small farmers were driven off their lands, they had no choice but to move to the suburban city locations. It was very promising at first for the farmers, they were promised work in the factories and other jobs with good pay and that’s exactly what happened at first. Later on as more and more people started to move to the cities jobs became more competitive and the companies completely ripped off the people with less pay and more work. The same thing happened in different places in different countries, some because of immigration and some because of overpopulation. These events brought a lot f unemployment and a high decease in the middle class. Only the people that owned the company seemed to get wealthy and everyone poor.
The Industrial revolution led to many positive changes as well. As a result of the revolution technology improved drastically. There were new inventions like the cotton gin, steam engine, printing press, and other manufacturing machines. Life seemed to become easier and harder at the same time, yes the mechinery made the job faster and easier but it led to people doing a lot more work and effort. As a result of all the goods being made there was less demand for it so countries had to find other countries to trade with. This very fact led to the Meiji Restoration. Japan at the time was so behind as a result of isolationism they didn’t even know about the Industrial Revolution. US needed to gain alliance with Japan to trade and sell goods so they did and within a few decades Japan became modernized. If we look back at history the Industrial revolution had an advanced impact compared to the age of exploration. During the age of exploration different nations started to trade and encourage cultural diffusion, many people learned about technology and goods that they never heard of before. The industrial Revolution had almost the same kind of impact but obviously greater because it led to many technology and items being introduced to different countries and it spread western culture to different parts of the world.
In conclusion, the Industrial Revolution was a turning point in history. It was definitely a great change socially, economically and politically. At first people were affected negatively, however later on it turned out to be a very positive impact as it modernized the globe.

  30. “Was the Industrial Revolution a turning point in history?”
The industrial revolution was a turning point in history due to the Change from the domestic system to the factory system. People’s environment changed dramatically when working. The domestic system is also, called “ the putting-out system”, was a widespread production system in 17th-century Western Europe which allowed people to complete their production and duty at home. Their environment was much more spaced and relaxed. They were able to take a rest when they are tired. On the other hand, the factory system is the system of manufacturing that began in the 18th century, which replaced the domestic system. In the factory system, individual workers produces massive amount of goods which replaced goods made by individual craftsmen. The factory environment was very crowded and uncomfortable since people were standing up and without any resting. The factory was a substandard place with poor sanitary conditions. Factories were in close quarters so disease was rapidly spread which it end up killing many people’s life. It was a dangerous, unsafe place where workers put in long hours for low pay. Since machines boosted up the amount production of goods in a short amount of time, labor costs decreased. As an example, according to Richard Guest, one problem of the introduction of the steam loom in the textile is that the steam loom machine is the reason why enormous production gain in a very shorty amount of time . As a result the skilled workers made poor, less money, yet the owner became wealthy due to the less labor cost. Therefore, the industrial revolution was a turning point in history because of the change from the domestic system to the factory system.

  31. Before the industrial revolution, in the 1750s, most people in Europe lived on small farms and produced most of their needs by hand. The Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain and spread to Belgium, France, Germany, the United States and Japan. It altered people’s lives completely. This caused a change in farming methods that allowed more farm food to be produced. Great Britain had useful natural resources needed for industrialization, such as iron ore and coal. The steam engine was the power source of the Industrial Revolution. It was replaced because it helped with the faster rate of work. As the Industrial Revolution grew, so did business. That did not mean it was good for the people. In fact many of the people had suffered greatly. Also, the Enclosure Movement, made many small farms into one large farm, left many people jobless and homeless. They were kicked off their land and sent to the city to work. The working conditions were terrible during the Industrial Revolution. As factories were being built, businesses were in need of workers. With a long line of people willing to work, employers could set wages as low as they wanted because people were willing to do work as long as they got paid. Many were hurt by the industrial revolution and its conditions. Especially children, they were sent to work to get money for the families to live. Business men took advantage of the need of employees that needed money. The health was just as bad. Factories were filthy and brought diseases to a lot of the workers. The Industrial Revolution was a turning point.

  32. The Industrial revolution was a turning point in history because the events that have taken place have led our current lives. The Industrial revolution influenced other countries into modernization. Japan during the Meiji restoration evidently used European innovations. Railways were built, increase in manufacturing, and the value of imports and exports increased in value. These factors lead to Japan’s increase in wealth. Japan also modernized in a short amount of time because they learned and took on the innovations already developed by the Europeans. Today, Japan is known to be one of the most technologically advanced countries.
The Industrial revolution also negatively impacted people. Many people were financially struggling and were so poor the even had to send their children to work. Many children had to work in dangerous conditions without any safetly regulations so many children and adults would get hurt during the job. Working hours were also long and children had to wake up very early in the morning and come home late at night, barely having time to eat or spend time with family. Due to the long and tiring hours, children were overworked and were beaten if came to work late or was uncooperative. This is similar to child labor in the US during the Industrial revolution. The revolution also led to families struggling because they lost their jobs to machines. For instance, the introduction of the power loom replaced many spinners and weavers. Many women and children lost their jobs and couldn’t afford to support their families anymore. Robert Owen, a social reformer, wanted to fix these problems. He wanted to build a utopian society where houses were provided for factory workers and were a distance from the factory because of potential problems. Education also became mandatory and children over the age of three were to be sent to school. Children in the factories were at least 10 years old and were not beaten if made a mistake but instead treated with gentleness. “The managers door was always open”, workers were able to have a voice and give ideas to their employers. Robert Owens’ society wanted to benefit the lives of people during the industrial revolution.

The industrial revolution was a turning point in history because the many events , especially the bad ones, have been learned from and applied. For example, The industrial revolution in europe has benefitted China and Japan by teaching them the basics and preventing them from problems that Europe experienced.

  33. Was the industrial revolution a turning point in history? It was indeed a turning point in history by the cause of several reasons. It was an advancement in the process goods were made and reshaped the way people lived. One reason as to why the industrial revolution was a turning point was because most of the people who lived in the rural areas moved to the urban areas of the country due to the enclosure movement. The Enclosure Movement was wealthy farmers buying more smaller farms which benefited them economically and they had more land to produce goods. Due to the movement most families were forced off of their land and had no other choice but to live in the cities and work in the factories. Most families that worked in the factories had worked there for long period of time such as 8 hours a day or even 10 hours. This was a problem for the children as well because they had to work in the factories due to the low wages. The conditions of the factories were very poor which caused many people to receive severe injuries and became sicken with many diseases. Since many people have started to die due to the work conditions and the diseased infected people, Thomas Robert Malthus has created a theory called the Theory of Population. The Theory of Population is the theory in which the famine and diseases in the world would sooner or later lead to the downfall of the population. The revolutions created new groups over time in society. Herbert Spencer had realized the social division and created a new ideology called Social Darwinism. Social Darwinism is the theory of which individuals, groups, and people are subjected to the laws of nature as their ancestors. Since Spencer also believed in evolution he believed that the poor workers in the factories were always like this and that it runs in the family, and the same goes for the wealthy employers who own the factories as well. Another reason why it was a turning point was because a lot of inventions w]that were made are still used till this day or was modified for the better. The industrial revolution was indeed a turning point in history because of several reasons.

  34. Many can argue that a certain event is not a turning point in history but they can’t say the same for the Industrial Revolution. The industrial Revolution was in fact a major turning point in history. There were many accomplishments during this time period which were both positive and negative but all impacts revolutionized the way we live.
The main cause of the Industrial Revolution was because of the big agricultural change. Since the neolithic revolution people have been advancing in agriculture and we have been constantly finding ways to make food easier to get, as a result of this there were more and more farms and that seemed to start the problem. Right before the Industrial revolution big farms started to take over small farms and the small farmers were forced to move to the city side. This was such a big change because not only their home location changed but so did their lifestyle. At first it was good for the people who moved they got to work in factories with decent wages, but as more people moved in jobs became harder to get because of competition and the independent factories got strict with the workers. As a result of this many people became homeless and desperate. On the bright sides there were many inventions that made life easier more most people and for the economy.
The industrial revolution helped many countries and Japan was almost left out, luckily for them the U.S happened to arriving arriving near the horizon. The Meiji Restoration was a blessing for Japan and it was a result of The Industrial Revolution. Japan was so behind everyone else because they were isolated and didn’t want foreign influence but when they so just how behind they were they accepted U.S in their country. As a result of this they improved drastically, 10 times faster than how long it took for King Luis XIV to be kicked out of his throne. Even now we can see how improved japan is and they would have never reached where they are without the industrial revolution.
In conclusion the Industrial Revolution was definitely a turning point in history. It helped many countries advance and some countries become even more advanced than others. People’s entire lifestyle changed from living in rural country side to urban life and the agricultural values became less important in the eyes of people.
